"whosoever delights in solitude is a wild beast or a god" - sir francis bacon

my mind has wrapped around this quote for a few days now. I guess mainly it would be nice to give a label to myself, one who enjoys solitude. but also an ego thing whereby it would be nice to be labeled as a god.

a few acquaintences believe that I am worthy of followers, and perhaps even worship, however, in my quest to learn about myself, the idea of solitude is interesting.

a few years ago, I noticed that the secret in life is located in the opposites that you usually can't see. As a point of thought, here's another quote "wisdom is easy, just think of the stupidest thing you can think of and say the opposite"

let's say that the world is stupid and you interact with stupidity all around you. then wisdom is found opposite that and is mainly hidden.

partying and going out, spending money and being popular is mainstream acceptance, however this is stupid. the wisdom is in solitude, or more specifically, how one spends time alone.

it is human nature to think of the most pressing problematic thing when the mind is left idle with no other pressures. but is one is able to control one's consciousness in solitude, and to even find delight in being in solitude, this marks a mature person, or one that has the utmost potential to become happy throughout their lives.

the only thing that bring deligh in solitude are things that are intrinsic. that is to say, that the mind has memorized something to bring order to the mind. as in the movie sahshank redemption, a prisoner is given 60 day in solitary confinement, to which many have gone insane or have endure permanent psychological damage. but this prisoner mentions that it was an easy stretch of time, because he was accompanied by mozart. playing and thinking about music in his head to fight against psychic entrophy. being able to do this removes a lot of dependence on external factors like mass media, social norms and other extrinsic goals.

definitely interesting to wonder if I would be happy to be in solitary confinement. In all honesty, I would probably love to be in solitary confinement with a paper, a pad and my thoughts. as I am left alone in my own room as a free man, I use this website and my keyboard as paper and a pen to draw out my thoughts and make myself more complex.

but am I a wild beast or a god? I guess that I am a god, but I am fallable, so I can be a wild beast too.

the other point of interest is a solution to the riddle: what is the meaning of life.

Nietzsche states that life has no meaning. however csikzentmihaly states that it doesn't mean that we can give leaning to life. he then continues to state: the meaning of life is meaning: whatever it is, wherever it comes from, a unified purpose is what gives meaning to life.

definitely in support of saying that we are all in charge of our own destiny. the immense freedom from this is to notice that to can give any meaning to our lives. how empowering.

anything we wish to do can be done. the theory of happiness is explained in the flow book. the actualy steps to do that is found in the same book, but also more explicit in the think and grow rich book.

the meaning of life is meaning.
