In the first chapter, there are a few items that were discussed. First of which was the idea of willful acknowledgement that one can control their own fate. There is hope for the hopeless and there is help for the helpless. The strength of one's will is determined by one's persistence. The corollary to this is that the will and persistence is born from understanding, not from ignornace.

As in a general mindset, there is a difference between success conscious and failure conscious. The mindset becomes self fulfilling. If you believe that it can be done, there there is a way to do it. If you believe that it cannot be done, then it cannot. A corollary to this is that failure come to those who are failure conscious, or otherwise known as bad luck. Good luck comes to those who are success conscious. There is absolute importance in how a person thinks or the outcome from which they protect their mindset.
